Apulo turicentro is located 16 kilometres from the capital city, San Salvador, this proximity makes it a place quite visited by many tourists. Apulo means in nahuatl: “Place which sinks in water”. This site is located in Canton Dolores Apulo, municipality of Ilopango in the Department of San Salvador.
Adjacent to the tourist center the Lake of Ilopango of 72 Km.2 is also, is among the departments of San Salvador, Cuscatlan and La Paz. In this area the flora is classified as forest deciduous, since existing specimens are typical of this vegetable formation.
Lake Ilopango is of volcanic origin, its crater lies just to the bottom of the Lake. The boiler of Ilopango was formed as a result of a cataclysmic, such eruption enormous pyroclastic flows which destroyed different Mayan cities.
