The plums are one of the fruits that are most abundant in El Salvador. There are several kinds, but the most cultivated and consumed are those seen in the image. Jocote trees grow and give better yields in dry climates.
The plums of El Salvador, are usually consumed naturally, although we also found the recipe to prepare plums in honey, which is fairly used in the time of Easter. Cook the plums with bundle of brown sugar and cinnamon until it boils.
The plums can be found in the markets or supermarkets in bags, sometimes are sold by the pound. Its price is between $0.25 and $1 bag. The price and the amount of plums depends on most all of the time of year, since when it is the season they are cheaper.
They are cultivated between February and April.
