The Salvadoran Colón was the currency circulating in the country until the year 2000, when the US dollar was put in circulation. By this time both currencies circulated, but later the colon would end up disappearing completely and becoming the dollar as the single currency until today.
The ticket of a colon looked aside a grey verdaceo where you could see a drawing of the dam of the Cerron Grande on one side and the other of a color ocre in which represented the face of Cristobal Colón (discoverer of America).
A colon banknote ceased to circulate at the beginning of the 1990s. At that time was a coin with much value, which like many say “many things could be bought”.
